More about My History

and why I'm a Graphic Artist Today

I am a very hard working individual, with a great work ethic. I loved working as a carpenter for years, before deciding to go back to School to get my AA Degree and to learn Computer Graphics. While being my own Boss, I learned much about bussiness, Public Relations, working closly with the clients, job estimating, submitting bids, competition in the marketplace, working alone, and in teamwork situations. While in College I also had to take many bussiness classes, such as Marketing, Macroeconomics, Sales, so I understand the theories as well as working it myself, 1st hand for years in the workforce. Deadlines and overtime are all nothing new to anyone thats ever ran his/her own bussiness. I currently love my newest chosen trade. While there are many reasons that I decided to go back to school and learn a new trade, one that doesn't deserver to be underestimated is the fact that I wanted to do this, because I love it. I thought long and hard about "If you could do any job on earth, what one would I choose"? I chose computer graphics because I had always heard that the secret to longevity was doing something you would want to do even if you didn't get paid for it. (Don't get me wrong though, I would like to get paid, although "bartering" isn't totally out of the question.)

While it is true that I am older than your usual recent "College Grad" I still keep my finger on the pulse of todays Pop-culture, and think/feel young, and live a youthfull lifestyle. Although I do also have a few more years of life experience to bring to situations, (which does come in handy, when you least expect it, and can't be replaced by anything except....Life experience) something you just can't get in someone who's not lived it yet.

Why I'm currently studying to be an AutoCAD Operator?

If you read about me on this website, you'll come to understand that I have had a many very successful years working in the carpentry trade. Everything from wood/metal framing & sheetrocking, to the finest high-end finish work in Manhattan, and therefor the world. Not to forget years of working as a cabinetmaker as well.

Years of working as a carpenter and having to read blueprints on a daily basis.
Then going to, and graduating from 3 different schools at the top of all my classes as a "Computer Graphics Specialist" Recieving 2 certificates, and my AA Degree adding up to me having more than a BA Degree in training as a graphic designer.
I thought one day, "Now how can I mix my 2 areas of expertise together and have a decent paying career, (being that the Graphic Design field has been over flooded in recent years) I then realized that if I were to learn about AutoCAD (Computer Aided Drafting/Drawing) that my years as a carpenter, and skills with complicated GUI's, and Realistic 3D modeling, that if I learned about AutoCAD, I'd have a great career finally comming together with over 20 years of preperation as a sturdy background to get me started.

Programs that I have been working with
for the past 4 years on a daily basis are:

  • Photoshop - 5.5 - 7.0

  • Acrobat [Adobe]
  • HTML
  • AutoCAD
